You would probably find that a name like that would still be available but clearly it is too long to expect people to take the time to type it in unless they are really keen.

It would be acceptable to use something like whitemountainview.com. It is likely that this is unique enough to still be available and also short enough, and logical enough for people to type it in without error.

The above only applies when you don’t need the domain name to be part of your branding like Google, the BBC or Yahoo! If your business has a unique name then you may choose to use this.

There are other techniques that are used in the construction of domain names that may help you to get found on the search engines.

If you want your website to get found on the search engines getting links into your site (inbound links) from other websites is important. Even more important is getting inbound links with your keyword text. If your domain name is constructed with keywords, e.g. florist-philadelphia.com, then you will ensure that all inbound links will use required keywords. For example, use Web Design UK as opposed to www.unknowndomainname.co.uk.
